Perhaps my favorite blogger in the world world, Tanta (now revealed as Doris Dungey), has passed away far too young.  She was only 47 and already had developed a substantial and influential readership as a co-blogger at Calculated Risk for her in-depth and immersive analysis of the mortgage crisis and its technical components.  Her often acerbic and always revealing marathon-long posts had become increasingly sporadic over the past and I had begun to greet them with delighted shock.  Her ovarian cancer treatment was rarely mentioned at CR but was alluded to occasionally and was no secret to her regular readers.  Despite her infrequent posting, I was under the impression that she was actually in recovery.

This is a very sad day as no one online really duplicates her writing in its knowledge and sarcastic flourish.  I did not know her personally, so I cannot eulogize her beyond her work as a blogger, but it is unspeakably sad to see someone so young and knowledgable pass on.
